The Clean Air Action Plan is an aggressive, cooperative strategy aimed at significantly reducing the health risks posted by air pollution from port-related ships, trains, trucks, terminal equipment and harbor craft. It was developed by both ports with the cooperation and participation of the staff of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the California Air Resources Board and the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
Public comment on the Clean Air Action Plan will be accepted through August 28. The Clean Air Action Plan is scheduled for a vote by the boards of harbor commissioners at the two ports in October or November.
The Clean Air Action Plan Overview (in English and Spanish), full Technical Report, Fact Sheet and other documents are available on the Port of Long Beach’s web site, www.polb.com. Comments can be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org.
