August 17, 2007
The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has promoted Doug Sereno to lead the newly formed Program Management Division at the Port of Long Beach.
Sereno, who joined the Port in 2002, becomes director of a division created as part of the Port’s ongoing reorganization to streamline administrative operations. He had been serving as Deputy Chief Harbor Engineer, in charge of program management.
"We’re pleased to have Doug Sereno as Director of Program Management, where he will not only carry on his existing duties, but also improve Port operations by taking on additional responsibilities," said Richard D. Steinke, the Port’s Executive Director.
Under Sereno’s program management leadership, the Port completed the later phases of the former Navy base conversion on Terminal Island, the early phases of the Pier G redevelopment, and the Ocean Boulevard-Terminal Island Freeway Interchange.
Sereno, who has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Brigham Young University, previously worked more than 15 years with the international engineering firm MWH Americas Inc., where he rose to vice president, overseeing program management for the City of Los Angeles’ wastewater-treatment operations.
He is a member of the American Association of Port Authorities’ Harbor Navigation and Environment Committee.
