The Port of Long Beach is hosting a workshop this month for local groups seeking grants to fund stormwater and water quality projects that improve the waters of San Pedro Bay.
The Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles are offering seed money to foster the development of new goods-movement technologies that improve air quality. The funding is part of the ports’ Technology Advancement Program, or TAP. This year’s 2018 Call for Projects requests concept papers for a variety of projects that have the potential to reduce emissions, including diesel particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides and greenhouse gases.
The Port of Long Beach has completed its best-ever first quarter, with marine terminals handling almost 1.9 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) January through March. The quick start is 19.4 percent more than the first quarter of 2017, the Port’s busiest year ever.
