When can I register for a tour?
Registration for general tours are open the first Monday of each month preceding the tour dates, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

September Tours – Monday, Aug. 7


What are the 2017 Harbor Tour dates?
Tour dates always fall on the first and third Saturday morning of the month and second and fourth Thursday evening. We do not host tours on the weekend preceding a federal holiday.

How do I register for a tour?
Fill out the online form (link available on registration date) and indicate which date you are interested in and how many people you're registering for (up to 4). Due to high demand, there is a limit of one requested tour date per registrant. 

All those who register will be entered in a lottery for the tour date selected. Within 5 business days, registrants will receive an email either confirming a reservation or indicating a position on the wait list. If you do not receive an email, please check your spam folder before e-mailing or calling.
 
If you are confirmed for a spot, you will receive an email invitation from Eventbrite asking you to finalize your reservation. You must click on 'attend event' to confirm and verify number in your party. This is very important — your reservation is not confirmed until you complete this final step.


What if my party is more than 4 people?
If you have a party of 5, you still need to enter the lottery for a maximum of 4. If you receive a reservation confirmation, you will need to call the POLB Communications team at 562-283-7700 or email communityrelations@polb.com for accommodation.

If your party is more than 5, you will need to have two separate members of your party with different emails register for the lottery.


We had two groups trying to register, but only one got confirmed. What can be done?

I’d like to reserve a high quantity of tickets for a group/organization I belong to, how do I do that?
Requests for large groups can be made at polb.com/requests. This request form is intended for community or industry organizations, education groups, etc. It is not intended for large family/friend gatherings and/or personal functions.

If I’m on the waitlist, how and when will I know if I get added to the tour?
Calls will be made a few days before the tour date if there is room to add people from the waitlist.

Are children allowed on the tours?
Yes, all ages are welcome aboard the vessel. A reservation is required for every child, no matter the age.

Are tours ADA accessible?
Yes, all tours are ADA accessible.

Can strollers be accommodated?
Yes, there will be an area aboard the vessel for strollers.

How long are the tours?
The tours are 1.5 hours long.

What time do I need to come for the tour?
Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled tour departure time. Tours depart promptly at the posted time.

Is parking validated?
Yes, parking is validated for the Shoreline Village parking lot. The validation stickers provided on board the vessel are good for the entire day, so feel free to come early or stay later to visit the various restaurants and shopping Shoreline Village has to offer.

Is there a cost for the tour?
Tickets are free.

Will there be food on board?
Complimentary beverages are provided (soda, water, coffee, juice). You are more than welcome to bring food aboard the vessel.

Can I take pictures during the tour?
Absolutely! Just remember to tag us using #porttours, and if you’re on Snapchat, keep an eye out for the Port’s special filter.

What’s the weather like on the boat?
Even during warm weather, it can be cool and windy out on the water, especially on our evening tours. We recommend that you plan ahead and bring an extra layer or two.

Will I get seasick?
The entire tour is inside the Long Beach Breakwater and the waters are usually calm even on windy days. Occasionally we cross the wake of a larger vessel, so if you are extremely sensitive you may wish to take precautions.

Where do the tours depart from?
The tours depart from Dock 9 in Shoreline Village (next to Parkers' Lighthouse).

Can I show up the day of a tour and wait in a standby line?
Yes, but a spot on board is not guaranteed if we have full attendance. We cannot guarantee parking validation if there is not space on the boat.
