Middle Harbor Final Phase on Track

Final 112 acres of greenest terminal under construction

The third and final phase of the Middle Harbor Terminal Redevelopment Project is underway and on track to be completed on time and on budget. When finished, the facility operated by Long Beach Container Terminal (LBCT) will be a 311-acre modern marvel equipped with the most advanced technologies in North America and the cleanest available cargo handling equipment.

  • A group of 60 community members attended the Clean Air Action Plan (CAAP) Implementation Stakeholder Advisory Meeting held June 26 in San Pedro. Representatives of the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles updated participants on proposed changes to the Clean Trucks Program and the status of technology feasibility assessments, demonstration projects, and strategies for further reducing vessel emissions. The gathering is the second in a series of quarterly public outreach meetings launched under the 2017 CAAP Update. Read more
  • Port of Long Beach Harbor Commissioner Frank Colonna was among those honored as outstanding men and fathers by the Long Beach Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). The awards ceremony was held June 10 at Ernest McBride Park.
  • The National Geographic Venture, the newest ship joining in the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic fleet, has the Port of Long Beach on its inaugural excursions exploring the Pacific Coast. On Dec. 2, the 50-cabin Venture will set sail for a five-night journey from San Francisco to Long Beach. On Dec. 7, the Venture will depart from Long Beach for a 12-night voyage along the Baja California coast to La Paz, Mexico. Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic specializes in cruises led by experts to remote regions rich in wildlife, culture and history.
