The Port of Long Beach is a major center of employment in Southern California, with 1 in 8 jobs in Long Beach existing thanks to the trade moving through the Port.
However, only a small number of the people whose livelihood depends on the Port are actually employed directly by the Port of Long Beach, which operates as an autonomous department of the City of Long Beach. You can find more information about those jobs here.
